The white paper cup with a green logo has become representative of the coffee shop experience. For today, however, that will change. Bring your reusable mug or tumbler to Starbucks today and receive a free brewed, hot, or iced coffee or tea in celebration of Earth Day.

If you don’t own a reusable mug, Starbucks encourages you to buy one today by offering 20% on theirs. (Remember, even on Un-Earth Days, anytime you bring a reusable cup, Starbucks will take a dime off your drink.) Another option: ask for your coffee or tea in a ceramic “for-here” cup and Starbucks will pick up the tab.

“One person can save trees; together we can save forests,” reads the description on the “Get a Free cup of Coffee on Earth Day” Facebook event page. Every cup helps to reduce Starbucks’ environmental impact, and as of today, 213,012 Facebook users have RSVP’d as attending. Last year, over 1.2 million drinkers participated on the big day. That’s a lot of cups.

One user sparked a heated religious debate on Starbucks’ announcement page, but regardless of your religious or environmental beliefs, coffee always tastes better when it’s free.
